1. Why are you interested in working as a school nurse for this district?

Interviewers want to know that you are familiar with their schooling system and the dynamics of their student population.

I have lived in the area for the past ten years and my children will begin in this school district next year.

2. What is your greatest weakness?

3. What is your motivation for becoming a school nurse?

School nurses specialize in taking care of and as such, need to have a great level of patience and compassion.

The interviewer needs to know that you understand the challenges of working as a school nurse but also that you will find this position rewarding.

Example answer:

I have always loved working with children, but I wanted to be in the healthcare industry as well.

4. Why are you the best candidate for this position?

Being in the school environment will not only help me but benefit all of the students because I can provide the best care and health programs possible.

5. What are your ultimate career goals as a school nurse?

This is a big question and interviewers know it.

They are looking to gauge if you are in it for the long haul or just trying it out.

Be honest with the interviewer.

Let them know what your goals are and how this position will help you reach them.

If you aren’t sure what lies beyond this position, it’s okay to admit that and maybe ask them what the possibilities for growth are as a school nurse.

I would love to retire as a school nurse.
